Marc La Pointe (he/him) navigates the ephemerality of place through an art practice that responds to encounters with memory and material. His varied sculptural approach includes performance, casting, assemblage, and collaborative community engagement.
After receiving an MFA from the University of Minnesota in 2018, Marc was named a Jerome Fellow at Franconia Sculpture Park. Howard Oransky curated Marc's photograph, and their, into the 2019 exhibition Queer Forms. In 2021, Marc worked alongside artistic director Tamsie Ringler as the project coordinator of Winter is Alive! - an arts carnival in Madison, WI, designed to be a catalyst for contemplation and action to combat the global climate crisis. As part of the 2022 International Conference on Contemporary Cast Iron Art in Berlin, Marc was a panelist on Iron Art: Protest, Identity, and Liberation and also generated social media content to highlight contemporary metal casting artists. Marc showcases his work exhibitions including Metro-dimensional: Exploratory Sculptural Artworks (Arizona), Sowing Iron: Cast Iron Sculpture Exhibit at the Dubuque Area Arts Collective, as well as the Eastern Washington University Art Faculty Exhibition where he teaches in the Department of Fine & Performing Arts.
